
Any hotel that still advertises free HBO is grimy and the Ole Miss Motel is no exception. Bands come through there regularly, so everything is wrapped in plastic. Even the mattresses. Sleep is crunchy. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. Free wi-fi!

AJAX has some serious soul food. Good suggestion Brooke. The country fried steak and catfish doesn't photograph like they taste.

Square Books is the oldest new bookstore in the South. David, a friend-of-a-friend, works here and gives us the skinny on the town.

Boman quickly becomes friends with Mr. William Faulkner, who also rocks Blu Blockers.

We bump into Bethany three times in 24 hours. The first time was at Graceland Too. Next a gas station. The third time, shown here, on a duel bike. She yells "MANIFEST DESTINY 2.0," and rides away with a big smile.

We didn't get to talk to this guy because he was really busy riding around the square on his mini-bike two or three times. Something tells me he's a super senior.

We decide to head to Clarkdale, and soon find ourselves in a time warp.

It's the birthplace and world capital of the Blues.

We initially come to pass through and show Susan, the gallery director of Brick Gallery, my work. She offers to put us up for the night, and we quickly accept.

We arrive at the Cotton Gin Inn, Mississippi's oldest B&B, around 11:30.

It's been virtually unchanged since it was a working plantation.

"Let Elvis rock you to sleep." Boman listened, but I needed to shoot photos first. There was blues music playing from a radio somewhere to keep me company.

This is our shack for the night. Pretty amazing.
